Pennsylvania NASA ERC (Educator Resource Center)
The PA NASA ERC is an affiliate of the PA Space Grant Consortium.
Space Grant Consortium (PSGC) was established in 1989 as a component of
NASA's National Space Grant College and Fellowship Program. The PSGC is
comprised of fourteen public and private universities and colleges
working together with industry and precollege partners to increase
Pennsylvania's participation in the economic, educational, and
scientific benefits of our nation's space program.
The PSGC is part
of a national network of 52 state-wide Consortia. The Space Grant
mission is to expand opportunities for Americans to learn about and
participate in NASA's aeronautics and space programs by supporting and
enhancing science and engineering education, research, and outreach
The PA NASA ERC provides professional development workshops for K-12 teachers, offering:
The role of the
PA NASA ERC is pivotal in bringing outstanding and free resources to
teachers for use in the curriculum. Weekly requests for materials and
support are received from throughout the state.
- Topic Workshops (ex. Exploring the Moon and Mars)
- GLOBE Protocol Workshops (ex. atmosphere, soils, hydrology, phenology, and land use)
- Elementary GLOBE Workshops for K-4
and connections to space scientists are available through the PA NASA
ERC working in collaboration with the PA NASA Space Grant Consortium
and the Goddard Space Science Center. The resources can be accessed
